My daughter, Amanda, started Kindergarten today. Where did
the past 5 1/2 years go? It seems she was just born
yesterday, and there she was at her classroom today waving
goodbye for the day.
After drop off, I arrived back home to do some work. Wow,
it's quiet in here. (Sigh.) I decided to revise my schedule
and move some stuff around to coincide with my daughter's
school schedule.
* I'm now waking up earlier to get Amanda to school on
time, which means I'll be going to bed earlier at night.
I determined exactly what time I'd need to go to bed, in
order to get at least 8 hours sleep.
* I'm starting work earlier, which means I'll have a lot
done by the time lunch rolls around. I'll do some household
chores for an hour or so after lunch, and then work again
until pick up time. This might include some cleaning,
laundry, grocery shopping and so on.
* I'll be working out either in the morning or afternoon,
depending on the gym class schedule--versus the evening
hours.
* I'll do all my work prior to 3:00PM, so I can give my
full attention to Amanda when she gets home from school.
* Dinnertime was moved back to 5:30P rather than 6:15P, so
that we could enjoy family time afterwards--with enough
time for Amanda's bath, bedtime stories and so on.
It will take a few days to get used to the new schedule,
and I may even alter it a bit here or there, but I'm
pleased with what I've come up with.
Back-to-school season is a good time to re-evaluate your
schedule, to ensure you're getting the most out of each
day. This is true whether you have children or not.
