Manila File Folders and Hanging? Why Both?

I recently released a brand new filing system called My Oh-So- Organized Filing System. We're very happy to say that we're getting a tremendous response to this new product.
It's very simple to set this system up and start filing immediately. Basically, all you do is begin peeling and sticking the pre-categorized labels onto your manila file folders and you're ready to go.
Any basic manila file folders you have in your house will likely do. If you don't have any, I recommend typical one- ply manila file folders that are third-cut. I use the basic beige ones made from recycled materials, but you can use any color or style that makes you happy and meets your budget.
I then take my manila file folders and insert them into hanging file folders in my filing system. Depending on the category, I am able to fit between 1 to 7 manila file folders in each hanging file folder.
Always be sure to include the hanging file folders, as they allow you to easily finger through your filing system, without the file folders slipping to the bottom of the file drawer.
Some people file right into the hanging file folders, but I find that 1) papers tend to curl and bend in hanging file folders and 2) if you wish to remove a manila file folder from the drawer, you can adhere a sticky note to the hanging file folder where it belongs so you know where to return it when you're done with it.
Bottom line is, I use both. My categorized manila file folders are always inserted into my hanging file folders. I never have a problem finding what I need--quickly and easily--and the system always looks consistent and neat.

Hi Maria,
Don't forget to use those manilla folders that are cut a bit shorter than the regular ones so that they don't obscure the labels on the hanging folders. When I discovered those "shorter" folders, I started organizing my hanging files more efficiently.
Best wishes,
Becky

if you line up the category tabs on the left side of the hanging files it is always easy to find the manila folders within.

Just received the filing system. How do I categorize the hanging folders? It seems the labels are for the manila folders.

There is no need to label the manila file folders. They're basically just "holders" for the manila file folders. :)

I got my filing system about two weeks ago. I really like how detailed it is and how I now have a place for all my papers. And if there isn't a label, I can create one. It's helped me to start getting rid of those awful paper piles that I've had. Thank you for this product.

I just noticed when you said you remove a manila folder, you place a sticky note to remin dyou where it belongs. What if you had a few colored folders (not the color you normally use) and you could slide one in the place of the in-use folder. You could reuse them over and over. Just a thought.
